Ashlee+Colin | Engaged [at last!]

For those of you who kept up with my old blog, you will probably remember Ashlee and Colin from last July. I needed practice with couples and they were perfect for it! Firstly because they are beautiful and comfortable around each other, which is kind of the perfect combo for a perfect shoot. Also because they are some of mine and Luke's closest friends! So it was basically just like I took pictures of them periodically while we hung out. Anyyyywho, they're back on the blog for a pretty special reason this time. You probably can guess from the title of this post buuuuut-

Yep. They're engaged. Wanna hear the story?

So, Ashlee has grown up in Abbeville, Louisiana all her life. Growing up she had frequently taken trips to a certain spot down the road from her house with her siblings and Paw Paw. There was a swing and pond and lots of romantic scenery, so naturally this was the spot Colin was secretly planning to pop the question.

They were planning on making a trip to Baton Rouge to celebrate Colin's birthday, which is why it was perfect timing. Ashlee loves surprises, but hates the anticipation of them. So she basically would pry it out of someone, or figure out the timing herself if he gave any clues at all!

(When you can't choose between color and black & white, do both. Right?)

Colin knew that Ashlee wouldn't suspect anything, since they were planning on going to Baton Rouge that day. So he picked up kolaches on his way to her house, saved a few before they were gone (since Ashlee has a pretty big family!) and they were on the road. All nonchalantly Colin says "Oh! You wanna stop by that place you're always talking about that you used to visit with your Paw Paw?" Ashlee replies with full excitement "OOooo YEAH!"

Colin grabbed his Bible from the car, they walked around a bit, sat down and began to read some scriptures. (This part was totally unplanned, according to Colin) They read each other the scriptures they had been reading in their own time, then Colin flipped to a few that were relevant to marriage.

They walked around the pond and then Colin said "Do you love me?" Ashlee responded with"yeah I love you!" then, straight from a line in a movie Colin got down on one knee and said, "love me enough to marry me?" to which Ashlee made a bunch of excited noises and finally said "yes!"

Colin and Ashlee- Luke and I love y'all SO much. We're so excited for your future! To see you expand the kingdom and bring joy to lives everywhere you go. We're also excited for all of our vacations and trips together, but that's another story....lol.

Thank you so much for allowing me to play a part in such a special piece of your story. I'm SO excited for your wedding, and feel so honored to be shooting it! I can't. wait.

The sun leaking through the trees here had me giddy with excitement. Even though it didn't turn out quite as I had hoped, I'm still in love with the results it gave us.

So much love for this amazing power couple. Cannot wait for August!
